Student Wellness
The purpose of the Student Wellness Program at Welch College is to retain and nurture students by providing opportunities that promote psychological and physical wellness. Some of the components of this program are listed below.
Christian Counseling Network
Welch College offers an on-campus counselor, as well as referral services, to current students needing Christian counseling. Please see the Student Handbook or contact the Campus Counselor for more information on details and eligibility.
Growth Groups
Students have the opportunity to join a Growth Group. In most cases, group members will read a section from a Christian living book on their own time each week, and then come together during lunch to discuss and personally reflect upon material from the book. All of the Growth Group materials are written from a Christian perspective. Joining a Growth Group may be optional, but it is always beneficial. Past groups have reviewed the books, The Search for Significance; 30 Days to Taming Your Tongue; and the video study series, Song of Solomon. Students are asked to purchase the books. However, a student can sell the book back to the group leader if the individual successfully completes the sessions. Please contact Jon Forlines or Susan Forlines if you are interested in finding out when the next group starts.
SWEAT
SWEAT stands for Student Wellness Exercise Anytime. With an emphasis on healthy eating, moderate exercise, and good life-choices, students are exposed to a variety of activities that will lead to smart choices for a lifetime. Frequent physically challenging outings are sponsored by Welch College for the college family to enjoy. Outings include early riser clubs, hikes at Radnor Lake, Climb Nashville outings, dodgeball in the gym, ice skating trips, paintball, hiking nature trails at Percy Warner, and the Country Music Marathon.
Marriage Enrichment Group
This marriage emphasis weekend is open to all students. The Song of Solomon DVD series by Tommy Nelson is an excellent tool for students who seek to honor God through healthy relationships and a healthy understanding of sexuality and intimacy. This marriage enrichment weekend also includes discussion groups. This is a free event for all Welch College students. Meetings TBA.
